Casa Bonjardim

Casa Bonjardim is a short film by Camille Salvetti. It portrays a narrow street in the city of Porto, where curious and puzzled gazes follow the slow demolition of a ruined Portuguese house. As this ruin collapses day by day, the busy street changes its face.
What will remain once the ruin is gone?

With a sensitive and observant approach, the film raises questions about urban transformation, the memory of place, and the impact of gentrification. The neighborhood, caught between resistance and resignation, witnesses the gradual replacement of the past by the present.

The film poster is a collage composed of stills taken directly from the film. It represents a city in transition, where one building rises over another, reflecting both the physical layering of urban development and the curious eyes watching it unfold.

Award: Casa Bonjardim won Best Film at the Architecture Film Competition in Regensburg.

Jury’s comment:

“Casa Bonjardim is a very personal film by Camille Salvetti. The filmmaker deals with urban change in an established neighborhood in a calm and very human way. A successful reflection on the spirit and rhythm of a street that is transformed by the demolition of a ruin, despite a neighbor’s efforts to stop gentrification.”
